From time to time, your doctor may ask you to have blood tests or other investigations such as X-Rays, Ultrasound scans or other investigations.

Some medical conditions mean that these test must be carried out regularly, both for your own safety and to be sure that any medication is still the correct prescription to manage your condition. Your doctor will advise you what tests need to be carried out and how often. There is no medical benefit in having tests more often than recommended.

Getting your test results

If the doctor asks you to have diagnostic tests, it is your responsibility to contact the surgery to find out about the results. The surgery will normally only contact you if there is an urgent need to follow your results up. We may also write or phone and ask you to make a routine appointment for less urgent matters.

Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:

• in your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
• phone the surgery on 01799 525325 between 11.00am and 4.00pm on weekdays to ask about your results

If you would like a printed copy of your test results, we will provide one, but because of the large numbers of requests we receive, results requested that morning will only available for collection after 4.00pm. Results requests received after 12.00pm will not be available for collection until 4.00pm on the following working day.

Questions about your results

 If you need to ask questions about them, you will need to speak to a clinician. A telephone appointment can be booked with a doctor for you to save you coming in to the surgery.
