Access services online or on your phone
You can use the NHS App to check your symptoms and get instant advice, book appointments, order repeat prescriptions, view your GP medical record and more by using a smartphone app (available for IOS and Android. Search "NHS App" on Google Play or the AppStore).
You can also request access to key parts of your medical record. An identity check is required to make use of these services for your security. This is not the same as the NHS Covid-19 App, which is a separate download.
If you already use Patient Access you can continue to use it, but you may find the NHS App offers a more comprehensive service.

Our clinical computer system supplier also operates a service called "Patient Access" (also available from Google Play or the AppStore). Before you can use this service please contact reception as you will need a username and password to get started. You may need to show some proof of identity. You can also view parts of your medical record online (this requires a specific application).

Making an appointment
Appointments may be made by telephoning 01799 525325, by calling at the surgery or online. Our trained reception staff will ask a few questions regarding the nature of your problem in order that they can guide you to the most appropriate health professional. This could include a pharmacist, physiotherapist, emergency care practitioner, nurse or GP. All our reception staff have received special additional training to equip them for this role. Please be aware that all our reception and administrative staff are bound by the same strict rules on patient confidentiality as our nurses and doctors.
If your problem is urgent, you will be offered an appointment or a telephone call to assess the problem on the same day but this may not always be with the doctor of your choice. Patients may book an appointment up to approximately four weeks ahead. Appointments for surgeries on days immediately after a Bank Holiday are all ‘book on the day' only. All other surgeries are usually a mixture of "Book on Day" and pre-bookable appointments.
GP appointments are usually 10 minutes long and usually only one problem can be fully discussed in that time. Please request a double appointment if needed when you book.
Our GPs have access to telephone translation services if needed, however this often makes a consultation longer, so it is helpful to book a double appointment if you think you may need help. Alternatively, you can bring an (adult) friend or relative to translate for you.
We can also book sign language interpreters, but unfortunately the system used by the NHS means we need some notice to do so. Please discuss any needs you have with reception when you book.
Appointments for telephone consultations are also available.
Cancelling an appointment
If you cannot keep your appointment, please inform us as soon as possible as we may be able to offer the slot to another patient. If you receive a text message reminder of your appointment, you can cancel by sending a text simply saying cancel to the number given in the message. The cancellation will be handled automatically by the computer system and the appointment will then be available for another patient.
Evening and weekend appointments
You can now see a GP or another healthcare professional on weekday evenings and weekends. To book an appointment, please call the surgery. To find out more about the service, including the treatment centres where you may be seen, please go to hucweb.co.uk/services/gp-extended-access
If you have booked an evening or weekend appointment in West Essex via your GP surgery and need to cancel or change it, please ring NHS111 and select option 3.
